Tartarus Backyard Ultra

Tartarus Backyard Ultra is an endurance challenge like no other, set to take place at Camp 7 within Riverside State Park on August 14, 2027. This race draws inspiration from the concept pioneered by Lazarus Lake and offers two distinct events: a running competition over a 4.1667-mile loop and a rucking event covering 2.2 miles with core weight requirements based on participants' body weights.
The race begins at 8:00 AM, with runners setting off every hour thereafter until only one remains standing. Each participant has exactly an hour to complete their respective lap; failure to do so results in being marked as a Did Not Finish (DNF). The course winds through the scenic trails of Camp 7, offering participants breathtaking views and challenging terrain.
As night falls at 8:00 PM, the race transitions onto the Centennial Trail for an out-and-back format that continues until dawn. Portable toilets are conveniently located near the start line to ensure runners can stay focused on their laps without worrying about breaks.
Participants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt and have the chance to earn a super-cool award if they manage to win either race. The atmosphere is electrifying, with supporters cheering from the sidelines as racers push themselves to their limits.
Camping facilities are available close by for those who wish to stay overnight and witness the drama unfold until just one runner remains standing at sunrise on August 15th.
