The Huckleberry Hundred, set for July 24, 2027, invites trail runners to immerse themselves in the breathtaking landscapes of Mt. Spokane State Park during peak harvest season. This second annual endurance challenge offers three distinct distances: a grueling 100-mile journey, a formidable 50-mile trek, and a more manageable yet still challenging 25-mile run. Each route follows a scenic 25-mile loop through the rugged terrain of the Inland Northwest. The course is designed to test even the most seasoned runners with steep elevation changes totaling up to 19,000 feet for the full marathon distance. This mountainous trail features technical singletrack paths and sweeping descents through lush inland rainforests, providing panoramic views of the Selkirk Mountains. Runners will pass by three aid stations along each loop where they can restock on water, Coke, Hummingbird Fuel, and a variety of snacks to replenish energy. The main staging area at Race HQ acts as both a starting point and a return destination after every lap, allowing for easy access to drop bags and crew support. The event kicks off with staggered start times: the 50-mile and 100-mile runners begin together at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning, while those tackling the shorter distance take off at 8:30 AM. The race concludes no later than Sunday evening at 7 PM for all participants. In addition to the stunning scenery and challenging terrain, Huckleberry Hundred offers a range of amenities including custom medals engraved with individual results upon completion and free race footage provided by organizers. Participants can also enjoy well-maintained bathrooms along the course and ample parking facilities near Race HQ. This event is not only about pushing physical limits but also celebrating the camaraderie among runners, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
