About the Event

Dive into the heart of Wellington at Freyberg Beach on Oriental Parade for an exhilarating splash and dash. This premier swimming and swim run event welcomes both beginners and seasoned pros to challenge themselves or simply enjoy a fun-filled afternoon along the scenic coastline. Held every second Wednesday, participants can look forward to quality competition, top-notch safety measures, and a vibrant atmosphere that keeps everyone smiling from start to finish.
The race offers a mix of open water swimming followed by an invigorating run on the beach, making it perfect for those who love the thrill of both aquatic and land-based sports. With stunning views of Wellington’s iconic waterfront, runners will be treated to breathtaking scenery as they cross the finish line in time for tea at home.
For younger participants aged 13 or older, there are special requirements: either a set of results from a recognized open water swimming event or proof that they regularly participate in an organized swim squad. Parents can obtain necessary documentation by having their child’s coach complete a downloadable form provided on the official website.
