Scurry Around the Helix 10km and 1 mile Fun Run - 2027

Welcome to the 4th Annual Scurry Around The Helix, featuring both a challenging 10km run and an engaging 1.5-mile fun race for all ages.
### Race Details:
- Date: Saturday, April 24, 2027
- Location: Helix Park, Falkirk
The event offers two distinct experiences:
#### Scurry Around the Helix 10km (Minimum age: 15 years)
This race is a flat and relatively easy-going course along tarmac or hard-packed paths. Starting from Helix Park, runners will pass by the iconic Kelpies sculpture before looping around Cobblebrae community woodland and skirting alongside River Carron to return to the finish line on the Helix Great Lawn.
#### Scurry Around The Helix 1mile Fun Run
For those looking for a less strenuous option, this one-mile fun run starts from the great lawn. It follows a clockwise route around the Helix Lawn and Lagoon, offering scenic views of the park’s natural beauty while providing an enjoyable experience for families.
### Registration & Timing:
- Registration: 8:30 am to 9:30 am (and up until 11:00 am for fun runners) at the orange gazebos on Helix Great Lawn.
- Race Start Times:
- 10km Race: 9:45 am
- Prize Giving for 10k Runners: 11:00 to 11:10 am
- Fun Run Start Time: 11:20 am
### Course Features:
- 10K Route: The course is predominantly flat with minimal elevation changes (only a slight ascent and descent of 75 feet). It offers the opportunity for runners to enjoy the park’s unique landscape, including views of natural woodlands and waterways.

- Fun Run Route: This shorter circuit provides an ideal setting for families. With no age restrictions, it allows children accompanied by adults to explore the Helix Park's picturesque paths.
### Race Day Experience:
Runners in the 10km race will receive a finisher’s medal, a memento (such as the season-specific Scurry Buff), and a snack upon completion of their run. Active Root water stations are available along the course for hydration support throughout the event.

The fun run participants also get to enjoy a medal and small gifts at the end without being timed.
### Safety & Support:
- Safety Measures: Extensive signage, marshals stationed at key points, and first aid teams will be present from start to finish. Runners are advised to follow all marshal instructions for their safety.

- Parking & Toilets:
- Parking is available at the Forth Valley College Car Park (Grangemouth Road, Falkirk), approximately a 15-minute walk away from the event area.
- Porta-potties will be located near the start/finish line and around Helix Café.
### Cancellation Policy:
In case of extreme weather conditions, the race may need to be rescheduled. If this happens, entries will automatically transfer to the new date with a possible partial refund option if you are unable to attend.
