Chopwell Woods plays host to an exhilarating mountain biking experience with the Chopwell TT, a trail-focused competition tailored for Enduro and Trail bikes. Set against the backdrop of picturesque woodland trails, this race offers a perfect blend of technical challenges and fun-filled riding. Located in Chopwell Woods, participants can expect a course that winds through the Top Main section of the Powerline Trail. The terrain is rated at 2 out of 5 for technical difficulty, making it accessible to riders with varying levels of experience while still providing an engaging challenge. Riders are encouraged to walk the course before attempting any runs and should ensure they wear appropriate protective gear. The event schedule begins early in the morning with foot inspection from 10:00 AM followed by sign-on at the NDH timing trailer, where all participants must register and complete two practice runs to qualify for racing. Practice sessions run until 13:00 PM when riders can fine-tune their skills on the course. Racing kicks off promptly at 13:15 PM with timed runs that utilize state-of-the-art transmitters to record each competitor's performance. The finish line is marked by a similar system, ensuring accurate and efficient timing throughout the event. A large TV screen will display live results for spectators and riders alike. The Chopwell TT caters to all ages, from young U12 racers competing in their 10th through 12th year up to seasoned veterans over 60 years old. Categories are designed to merge when necessary to ensure fair competition among peers. Women's categories mirror the men’s divisions as closely as possible and require a minimum of five participants for standalone classification. Competitors should be prepared with their bikes, helmets, and end plugs in handguards for safety. A £20 deposit may also apply for timing chips which must be returned post-race to avoid additional charges or penalties. Safety is paramount at Chopwell TT, with full medical coverage on-site including a base station within the event arena. Competitors are reminded of their duty to assist others who might need help and adhere strictly to race regulations under British Cycling guidelines. The atmosphere promises excitement as riders tackle challenging sections while enjoying the serene beauty of Chopwell Woods. With no camping available but catering trailers on site for refreshments, this is a day trip event that brings together mountain biking enthusiasts from across the region.
