Runners and walkers are invited to embark on an unforgettable journey along the stunning Welsh coastline for Run to the Castle, scheduled for August 14, 2027. Participants can choose between two challenging distances: a grueling 42-mile ultra or a marathon route of approximately 26 miles. The race begins in the charming coastal village of Aberdyfi and follows a picturesque path through Tywyn's seafront to Fairbourne, where runners will cross over the iconic Fairborne bridge. The course then continues along the coast past Barmouth before reaching its final destination at Harlech Castle, located approximately 42 miles from the start. For those opting for the marathon distance, the route stretches from Aberdyfi all the way to Barmouth, offering a scenic and varied terrain that includes beaches, tracks, and pavements. Both distances are well-marked with clear signage throughout, ensuring participants can navigate easily while enjoying breathtaking coastal views. Registration opens at 7:45 AM on race day, allowing ample time for runners arriving by car or train to drop off their bags before the start of the event at 8:45 AM. Participants will be transported from Aberdyfi to Harlech via a connecting rail service that runs approximately every two hours. The entry fee includes access to fully recced routes, food and drink refreshments at four separate checkpoints along the way, as well as a finishers medal upon completion of their run or walk. Race results will be available online shortly after the event concludes. To ensure safety during this point-to-point race, participants are required to carry essential kit including a rucksack with 1 liter of water, emergency food supplies, and basic medical equipment such as a first aid kit. Additionally, runners must bring their mobile phone (fully charged), waterproof jacket, whistle, map of the area provided by organizers, and a compass. Runners can look forward to an enriching experience that combines physical challenge with scenic beauty, making Run to the Castle an event not to be missed for both seasoned athletes and those seeking a memorable adventure along Wales' stunning coastline.
