Callow Fell Race

The Callow Fell Race, renowned for its challenging terrain and steep ascents, invites experienced fell runners to test their skills against one of Shropshire's toughest courses. Set to take place on November 15, 2026, this 8km race with a vertical ascent of 762 meters (5 miles/2400ft) begins near Little Stretton and winds through four formidable valley climbs before culminating in an exhilarating descent.
Race day registration opens at 9:30 AM, with the start time set for 11 AM. Participants should meet at the Race HQ located at Little Stretton Village Hall (SY6 6RE), where limited parking is available; runners are advised to arrive early and consider carpooling due to space constraints.
The route demands full WFRA kit: waterproof clothing with taped seams, a hat or buff, gloves, compass, whistle, food and drink for the conditions, map, and a means of carrying essential gear. The race features a strict 1 hour and 15-minute cutoff at Ashes Hollow after descending from Yearlet; runners outside this timeframe will be directed to return via Ashes Hollow.
With limited marshals and signage along the course, previous fell running experience or mountain skills are highly recommended for safety reasons. Prizes await top male and female finishers in a race that promises both scenic beauty and technical challenge. For more details on route maps and entry information, visit the official event page.
