PFW Running - Cottam Canter

Experience an unforgettable day of running at the UCLAN Sports Arena, nestled within the picturesque grounds of Cottam. This event offers something for every level and distance runner, from a 5K loop to ultra distances with no upper limit beyond six hours.
The race begins on the lush greenery surrounding the sports arena before venturing onto the tranquil Lancaster canal towpath. As you make your way along this scenic route, runners will navigate through historic Preston and encounter picturesque canal locks while tracing the path of the millennium Ribble link. The course then winds its way into Haslam Park where tree-lined paths lead around a serene lake, offering moments of tranquility amidst nature.
After looping back to the park’s edge, you’ll return to the towpath for one final leg towards the finish line at UCLAN Sports Arena. For longer distances such as 10K and beyond, multiple laps are required with the marathon distance comprising eight full loops plus a short out-and-back section. Ultra runners can enjoy flexible pacing over numerous circuits within the six-hour time limit.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants will be greeted by an array of amenities including sweet and savoury snacks, refreshments like water, cordial, and coke, as well as bespoke medals and post-run goodies to commemorate your achievement. The route is clearly marked with medical cover readily available throughout the event to ensure a safe experience.
UCLAN Sports Arena offers comprehensive facilities such as changing rooms, restrooms, showers, a café serving hot beverages and light meals, all complemented by free parking for convenience. This race is part of an exciting three-day running series; runners are encouraged to explore additional events on other days for even more challenges and camaraderie.
Age restrictions apply: participants must be at least 18 years old with specific distance caps based on age group (max marathon for ages 18-19, no cap for over 20s). The event adheres strictly to UKA rules and is sanctioned by the Trail Running Association.
