Swim - Wyresdale Park (30/10)

About the Event

Embark on an unforgettable aquatic adventure at Wyresdale Park, where nature and tranquility come together to create a unique swimming experience. Nestled along the picturesque lakefront, this venue offers a serene setting for swimmers of all levels.
Upon arrival, leave your belongings on the jetty, which features storage boxes in case of rain or hooks for hanging items like towels and robes. A staff member will greet you here, ready to provide essential instructions and assist with any needs such as borrowing tow floats or hiring wetsuits (for a £10 fee).
The lake itself is dotted with buoys during the summer months, marking circuits that are approximately 400 meters each. Swimmers can complete four of these circuits for a full mile. However, be cautious near blue buoys on the far side of the lake—these mark shallow areas used by anglers.
Wetsuits and tow floats are optional but highly recommended; bright hats or bobbles in winter enhance visibility. Safety kayakers patrol the water to assist anyone who encounters difficulties.
Facilities include ample parking, with an overflow lot accessible via a small bridge near Gubberford Lane. The Applestore Café is conveniently located on-site for post-swim refreshments. Toilets are available both outside behind the café and inside nearby buildings.
For those traveling by bus from Preston Station, Stagecoach 40 offers service to Cabus Gubberford Lane in approximately 45 minutes. Detailed driving directions are also provided online.
Join us at Wyresdale Park for a swim that blends scenic beauty with safety and community spirit.
