National Forest Way Ultra 75

The National Forest Way Ultra 75 is an epic journey through the heart of England’s Midlands, stretching across three counties: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Staffordshire. This grueling 120km (75 miles) course weaves through ancient woodlands, former mining landscapes, rolling farmland, and challenging trails, offering runners a diverse array of terrains to conquer.
The race starts at the Alrewas Showground in Burton-on-Trent early Saturday morning on May 8th, 2027. Runners will navigate their way towards Beacon Hill Country Park in Loughborough, with a strict 24-hour time limit for completion. The first runner to reach the finish line and light the beacon at Beacon Hill will earn an esteemed honor.
Throughout the race, participants are supported by six fully stocked checkpoints where they can refuel on a variety of food options including sandwiches, fruit, snacks, electrolytes, water, juice, cola, salted potatoes, crisps, biscuits, and more. Vegetarian and vegan diets are also catered for. Each checkpoint is staffed with medical personnel to provide immediate assistance if needed.
The race course features mandatory kit requirements such as a headtorch or backup light source, waterproof jacket, survival blanket or bivvy bag, at least one litre of water capacity, mobile phone, whistle, and nutrition supplies. Random checks will ensure compliance throughout the event.
For those looking for an alternative challenge, teams can enter in relay format with three runners per team. Each runner must complete a minimum distance of 20 miles to qualify for a finisher's medal. Team changeovers are strictly managed at designated checkpoints under supervision and GPS trackers should not be transferred outside these points.
The National Forest Way Ultra is also recognized as an official UTMB Index Race in the 100K category, providing runners with a performance rating that compares fairly across different races internationally. This adds another layer of prestige to completing this challenging course.
