Music City Trail Ultra

The Music City Trail Ultra returns to HardWin Family Farm on Saturday, March 6, 2027, offering runners and ruckers an epic challenge across rugged terrain. This event is not for the faint of heart but welcomes those willing to embrace a formidable test of endurance.
Located in Pegram, Tennessee, the race offers three distances: a grueling 50K course, a challenging 25K route, and two options for the 12K distance—one as a regular run and another as a HardRuck event. The trail runs through the scenic Cheatham Wildlife Management Area, covering over 20,810 acres of upland hardwood forest with steep trails and stunning ridge line views.
The 50K course is particularly demanding, featuring technical singletrack, rugged jeep roads, and creek crossings. Runners will face a notorious climb known simply as FTS Hill—ask any finisher what it stands for to find out the full story. The terrain is covered in leaf-littered rocks and roots that can lead to cuts from briars along the way.
Aid stations are strategically placed every 5-6 miles, providing water, Gatorade, and snacks. Enforced cutoff times ensure a safe race experience: runners must reach the first aid station within three hours twenty minutes of their start time, the second at six hours fifty minutes, and complete the course in nine hours or less.
The HardRuck event adds an extra layer to the 12K distance by requiring participants to carry weighted packs. Overweight individuals are expected to carry a dry weight of 20 pounds, while those under that threshold must carry 10 pounds. Weigh-ins take place half an hour before the start time.
Upon crossing the finish line back at HardWin Family Farm, runners and ruckers can look forward to a well-deserved reward: pizza, beer, including a pint of Jackalope brew, and a finisher cup for those who complete their respective distances. Awards are given to top three men and women in each division.
Registration closes on Friday, March 5 at 11:59 PM CT, with no race day registration available. Packet pickup is available the morning of the event from 6 AM until your race start time or any hour before then if announced earlier.
