About the Event

The Moors Traverse™ is an 80km ultra running journey through Yorkshire, following the legendary coast-to-coast route pioneered by Alfred Wainwright. This adventure begins at Ingleby Cross and winds its way along the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park before descending into eastern Yorkshire to reach the picturesque shores of Robin Hood's Bay.
The event is renowned for its self-sufficient approach, encouraging runners to embrace both the rugged terrain and serene landscapes that punctuate this historic path. Participants will traverse through diverse ecosystems, from heather-covered moorlands to dense woodlands, all while enjoying sweeping views of Yorkshire’s dramatic coastline.
This ultra serves as an accessible yet challenging gateway event for those looking to tackle more arduous routes like the Lakes Traverse™ in future years. The Moors Traverse™ is celebrated not only for its scenic beauty but also for fostering a community spirit among runners who share a passion for long-distance running and self-reliance.
Participants have the option to purchase XCover, providing them with peace of mind by securing a refund should unforeseen circumstances prevent their participation. This ensures that everyone can approach the race knowing they are well-prepared both physically and logistically.
The Moors Traverse™ promises an unforgettable experience for runners seeking to explore Yorkshire’s natural beauty while pushing personal limits in a supportive environment.
