Step into the heart of Knaresborough, nestled within the picturesque landscapes of North Yorkshire, for an invigorating trail running experience. The Knaresborough Running Festival welcomes runners from all backgrounds with its diverse range of distances: a 10k (ish), Half Marathon, 20 Miler, and Full Marathon. The race courses wind through stunning parkland and along the historic railway track that connects Knaresborough to Harrogate, offering breathtaking views of Yorkshire’s rolling hills and lush greenery. The event is meticulously organized with clear maps provided a week before the run, ensuring runners know exactly where to find parking and how to navigate from start to finish. Each distance starts at different times: Marathon at 8:30am (4 laps), 20 Miler (ish) also starting at 8:30am but covering three laps of the course, Half Marathon beginning promptly at 9:00am for two laps, and the shorter yet equally scenic 10k (ish) kicking off at 10:30am. Runners will encounter feed stations approximately every three miles along the route, stocked with water, snacks, and energy-boosting treats to keep you fueled throughout your run. The course is fully marshalled and clearly marked for easy navigation. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants receive a bespoke medal celebrating their achievement and are treated to post-race refreshments. The event takes place at Conyngham Carpark, conveniently located just two minutes from registration via public pay-and-display parking. Race day starts early with registration opening at 8:00 am—allowing ample time for runners to park, complete the sign-in process, and use nearby facilities before their start times. To ensure a safe running environment, participants are encouraged to bring reusable cups or bottles to minimize waste. For those who enjoy listening to music while they run, bone-conduction headphones or earbuds with one in-ear bud left out for awareness of surroundings are permitted. Race briefings and community updates can be found on the Grim Up North Chat group on Facebook. Join us on July 3rd, 2027, for a day filled with scenic trails, friendly competition, and the charm of Yorkshire’s countryside.
