Kakogawa Running High 2026 (年忘れ　加古川ランニングハイ 2026)

The Gokasho Riverbed Road Race invites runners of all ages and abilities to its scenic course along the picturesque banks of the Kako River. This annual race offers a variety of distances, catering to both individual racers and relay teams.
For solo participants, five different distance options are available: 42.195 kilometers for those looking for a full marathon challenge; a half-marathon at 30 kilometers; two shorter but still demanding races covering 20 kilometers and 10 kilometers respectively; and an accessible option of just 5 kilometers for runners who prefer a more relaxed experience.
In addition to these individual events, the race also features relay competitions where teams can work together in harmony. The relay event requires each team member to cover 42.195 kilometers collectively over multiple legs, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among participants.
The course itself winds through the serene surroundings of Gokasho's riverbed area known as "Mina," providing runners with stunning views of nature while they compete. The race also includes a special category for younger athletes: 1.5-kilometer races for elementary school children, and a fun 400-meter dash designed specifically for pre-school age kids.
Entry fees vary depending on the distance chosen, ranging from ¥9,000 for relay teams to just ¥1,000 for participants in the shortest race category. This event promises an enjoyable day out with friends or family, combining competitive spirit with a love of running amidst beautiful natural scenery.
The Gokasho Riverbed Road Race is set to take place on December 20, 2026, offering runners and spectators alike an unforgettable experience in the heart of Japan's scenic landscapes.
