Haweswater Half Marathon

Mark your calendars for the 25th Anniversary Haweswater Half Marathon, set to take place on March 7, 2027. This picturesque half marathon offers runners an unforgettable journey along the tranquil roads bordering Haweswater Lake in the heart of the Lake District.
Participants will enjoy a scenic out-and-back course that winds through rolling hills and past stunning lakeside vistas. The race begins at Bampton Village Hall where all necessary facilities, including toilets provided by local villagers, are available from 9:30 AM onwards for number collection and registration.
Runners should arrive early to partake in the safety briefing at 11:10 AM before setting off on their journey at 11:30 AM. The race course is designed with quiet undulating roads that challenge runners while offering breathtaking views of Haweswater’s serene beauty.
Parking is available at Bampton Village Hall and village green, but car-sharing is strongly encouraged to minimize environmental impact. Marshals will coordinate parking arrangements on the day; please follow their instructions carefully to avoid disrupting local residents.
This year's race supports 4Eden, a local charity that provides vital services for people with learning disabilities, neurodiversity, and additional needs across the Eden Valley region from Penrith. Participants have the option to donate £2 of their entry fee directly to this cause instead of receiving an official event mug.
All finishers will be rewarded with hot tea or coffee paired with a delicious slice of Traybake flapjack (vegan options are available). The top three male and female overall winners, as well as age category champions in U23, V40, V50, V60, and V70 categories, will receive prizes. First teams of 3 also compete for recognition.
The race is open to runners aged at least 16 on the day with a maximum entry limit of 500 participants. Ensure you adhere to UK Athletics guidelines regarding headphones (only bone-conducting models are allowed) and number placement rules during the event.
