Hardy Half

The Hardy Half offers runners an unforgettable journey through the picturesque landscapes that inspired Thomas Hardy's literary works. Set against the backdrop of rolling hills and rural trails near Dorchester, this trail-running event features two distances to cater to all levels: a 5-mile "Half Hardy" for those looking to dip their toes into off-road racing or tackle a shorter challenge, and a full half marathon (13.1 miles) that tests endurance with its varied terrain and elevation gains.
The longer route presents runners with approximately 1,400 feet of climbing, weaving through challenging trails and scenic vistas. Both courses are designed to showcase the beauty of Dorset's countryside while fostering a sense of community spirit at every turn. The event takes place on May 9, 2027, starting and finishing at Dorchester Rugby Club, where participants can enjoy pre-race festivities and post-race celebrations.
Supporting local charities is central to the Hardy Half’s mission; each step runners take contributes towards meaningful causes in their community. This race not only celebrates physical achievement but also highlights the power of coming together for a common good.
The event's atmosphere is vibrant, with aid stations along both routes and entertainment that keeps spirits high throughout the day. Whether you're an experienced trail runner or new to off-road racing, The Hardy Half promises a memorable experience in one of England’s most inspiring landscapes.
