Dark Valley, Night Trails

About the Event

Dark Valley Night Trails invites runners to immerse themselves in an enchanting night-time adventure through Moors Valley Country Park on Saturday, November 21st, 2026. BigFeat Events presents this unique running experience with a choice of three distances: 10km, 20km, and 30km loops.
The event takes place under the starlit canopy of the Hampshire-Dorset border forest, where wide trails lined with trees offer an atmospheric setting for torch-lit exploration. Runners will navigate through the darkness using custom fluorescent markers that guide them along a fully signed course. This adventure not only challenges participants physically but also offers a serene and meditative experience as senses heighten in the quiet of night.
Participants can choose to run solo or join friends, all while being supported by BigFeat's renowned marshals who ensure safety throughout the event. The decision on how many laps to complete is entirely up to each runner, allowing for flexibility based on personal preference and endurance levels.
Moors Valley Country Park provides ample free parking in its main car park, making it easy for runners to reach the starting point at Horton Road, Ashley Heath near Ringwood, Dorset BH24 2ET. Registration will open at 16:30, with bib collection from the registration tent and a safety briefing scheduled for 17:25 before all distances start promptly at 17:30.
Mandatory kit includes a headtorch or chest torch, along with appropriate clothing to handle variable winter weather conditions. Runners are also encouraged to download the GPX route file onto their wearable devices as an added precaution against potential tampering of course markers.
A bag drop tent will be available for those needing storage during the event, and cut-off times vary by distance: no time limit for 10km; 3 hours for 20km; and 4.5 hours for 30km.
Post-event, runners can opt to support environmental initiatives through Trees Not Tees, planting a tree instead of receiving a traditional finisher's medal.
The event offers an array of amenities including well-stocked aid stations, bespoke medals upon completion, enthusiastic volunteers, on-course photography, and an energetic atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. The entry fees are £34 for 10km, £40 for 20km, and £46 for 30km.
For those looking to extend their visit beyond running, Moors Valley Country Park provides a variety of activities suitable for all ages. From walking trails and cycle routes to adventure play areas featuring Mini Land Rovers and Adventure Golf, the park offers an engaging day out with family or friends.
In addition to Dark Valley Night Trails, visitors can explore Gruffalo sculptures along themed walks inspired by Julia Donaldson’s beloved stories, attend Parkrun events for a free community run, or take on aerial challenges at Go Ape. These attractions add further appeal and variety to the event's surroundings.
Dark Valley Night Trails promises an unforgettable night-time adventure in one of England’s most picturesque forests, combining physical challenge with serene beauty and camaraderie among runners.
