HADRIANS WALL HALF MARATHON RUN 2026

Immerse yourself in history and natural beauty at the 6th edition of the Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon, scheduled for October 10-11, 2026. This unique race invites both runners and walkers to experience one of Britain's most iconic landmarks.
The event kicks off from Housesteads Roman Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled along the Military Road near Hexham. Participants will traverse six miles of Hadrian’s Wall Trail Path before descending into Newbrough and navigating through woodland areas towards the Tyne Riverside Trail Path for the final leg to Hexham's Tyne Green Country Park.
Runners can expect varied terrain, including stretches that hug historic walls and flat sections along riverside paths. This half marathon offers a blend of scenic beauty, rich history, and challenging landscapes, making it an unforgettable experience for all participants.
For those traveling from afar, shuttle buses are available to transport runners directly from Hexham town center to the start line at Housesteads Roman Fort. Public car parking is also accessible in Hexham, though organizers encourage carpooling to minimize environmental impact.
The event supports Heel and Toe Children's Charity, a local organization dedicated to providing essential therapy for children with physical disabilities and complex needs who rely entirely on community support due to the absence of government funding. Participants have the option to make donations during registration in aid of this worthy cause.
Upon crossing the finish line at Tyne Green Country Park, all participants will be greeted by live chip-timing results provided by Timing Up North and presented with an event t-shirt, medal, and a snack to celebrate their achievement.
