SLALEY HALL & FOREST TRAIL RUNS 2026

Slaley Hall Trail Runs returns for its eighth consecutive year in November 2026, inviting runners to explore the scenic beauty of Northumberland. Located at Slaley Hall Hotel on Coal Road in Hexham (NE47 0BX), this event offers a unique blend of natural splendor and historic charm.
The Half Marathon course spans an exhilarating 13.1 miles, featuring a picturesque segment through Slaley Forest’s serene trails for the first seven miles. The route then winds around the lush grounds of Slaley Hall before returning to the starting line. Runners can also opt for the more compact yet equally scenic 10km race, which takes runners on one lap through the stunning estate.
Both routes showcase the breathtaking landscape that lies south of Hexham and along the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Nestled within a thousand acres of woodland and open countryside, Slaley Hall provides an idyllic backdrop for trail running enthusiasts. The combination of tranquil forest paths and historic estate grounds offers runners a truly immersive experience.
For those who love to run with their canine companions, the event welcomes one well-controlled dog per runner on a lead throughout the race. This makes it a perfect outing for canicross aficionados as they navigate the scenic routes together.
Participants will start at 9:45am, and both races are timed using live chip-timing provided by Timing Up North, ensuring accurate results available instantly upon crossing the finish line.
Upon completion of either distance, all runners receive an event medal, a selection of Wild Deer merchandise, and a hearty bacon sandwich (or alternative option), along with a hot drink inside the hotel. The Slaley Hall bar will also be open for additional refreshments after the race.
