Great Barrow Challenge Day 4

About the Event

The Great Barrow Challenge returns for its fourth day with an exclusive route designed for runners of all distances at Suffolk Running Centre in Bury St Edmunds. This versatile event offers participants the flexibility to choose between 5k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon, or ultra distances over a ten-day period.
On August 1, 2027, competitors will tackle Back Quack, a scenic and challenging loop course that measures approximately 10.55 kilometers (6.7 miles) in length. The route is equally divided between road and trail surfaces, with the terrain presenting both an engaging mix of pavement and natural paths. Runners can expect to climb a total elevation gain of about 107 meters during their journey.
For those opting for shorter distances, completing one loop will suffice for the 10k distance. Half marathon participants are tasked with two loops, while full marathon runners must conquer four circuits around Back Quack's varied terrain. Ultra marathon enthusiasts have the option to either complete four loops plus an additional 5k segment or push themselves further by running five full loops.
The race starts and finishes at a base camp equipped with water stations for hydration throughout your run. Each participant will receive a bespoke medal upon completion of their chosen distance, adding a unique touch to this multi-day event series.
To ensure safety on open roads, runners are advised not to use headphones except bone conduction devices. Additionally, dogs and buggies are prohibited from the route due to traffic considerations.
Parking is included in your entry fee for convenience, making it easier for participants to focus solely on their race day performance. For those interested in a virtual experience, Zig Zag Running offers an alternative option through its website.
The Great Barrow Challenge invites runners to immerse themselves in the beauty of Suffolk's countryside while pushing their limits across diverse and challenging routes each day from August 1st onwards.
Join us for an unforgettable running adventure that promises scenic views, varied terrain, and a community spirit like no other.
