About the Event

The Federation Ultra Trail, established in 2018, offers an unparalleled adventure through the heart of South Australia's natural and cultural landscapes. Starting at Monarto Safari Park, runners are greeted with exclusive access to walking trails that wind past roaming African wildlife including meerkats, giraffes, bison, chimpanzees, and rhinos.
The course continues along a unique path not shared by any other trail running event in the region, taking participants through Kinchina Conservation Park before finishing at Sturt Reserve on the banks of the Murray River. This route provides runners with an immersive experience that showcases both the beauty and biodiversity of South Australia's southern regions.
Proceeds from this race have been instrumental in supporting Monarto Safari Park’s conservation efforts for endangered species, raising over $50,000 to date. Since 2019, the Federation Ultra Trail has also become part of the S.A. Five 50’s Ultra series, a challenging initiative that invites runners to complete five trail ultras across South Australia.
