Dragon's Back Race
About the event
The Dragon’s Back Race invites trail runners to experience one of Wales' most demanding and scenic routes. Spanning six days from Snowdonia to Cardiff Castle, the Full Dragon challenges participants with steep ascents and remote wilderness. For those seeking a taste of this legendary race, new formats are available: Dragon's Fire offers a two-day initiation starting at Conwy Castle, while Dragon’s Tail covers the final stages through the Bannau Brycheiniog mountains before reaching Cardiff. The Hatchling format allows runners to customize their journey by completing selected sections each day. Each route is meticulously supported with professional organization and immerses participants in Wales' stunning landscapes and rugged terrain.
The event, scheduled for September 6-11, 2027, promises an unforgettable adventure through some of the UK's most challenging mountain trails.
