Dion Mighty Chickadee Snowshoe Race

Embark on an invigorating winter adventure through Cold Creek Conservation Area for the Dion Mighty Chickadee Snowshoe Race on January 16, 2027. Participants will traverse 6.5 kilometers of scenic trails winding through dense forests and open meadows, featuring a mix of wide paths and single-track routes that challenge both endurance and agility. The course includes several long climbs, adding an exciting element to the race as runners navigate varied terrain.
Registration takes place at the Education Centre from 8:30 am until 9:45 am on race day, with bib pick-up provided there too. Race enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their spots early, as entry is capped at 60 participants and prices vary based on registration timing, ranging from $56.20 for early sign-ups up to December 26th to a cash-only option of $65 if available on race day.
For those without snowshoes, Dion Snowshoe rentals are offered first-come, first-served during the registration process at an additional fee of $10. Early registrants who reserve by December 31st will also receive exclusive race souvenirs while supplies last.
Post-race festivities include a warm-up and chili in the Education Centre followed by awards presentations and draw prizes from sponsors, with must-be-present-to-win Dion snowshoes among the giveaways. In case of insufficient snow but safe conditions, the event transitions into an exhilarating trail run without the need for snowshoes; traction devices are recommended to handle potentially icy trails.
Join fellow runners in this charming winter escapade and be part of the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Series, where points accumulate towards crowning series champions at the final race. For more information on the series or registration details, visit their official website.
