Colne Valley Path

On August 22, 2027, runners will converge on Essex for an unforgettable trail running experience along the Colne Valley Path. The marathon route winds through Great Yeldham and past ancient oaks before finishing at Cymbeline Meadows in Colchester. For those opting for a shorter distance, the half marathon begins in Greenstead Green with its own scenic journey to the finish line.
Participants will need to navigate using either GPS coordinates or detailed written instructions provided by race organizers. Aid stations are strategically placed along both courses, ensuring runners have access to essential supplies throughout their run. A shuttle service is available pre-race for those who wish to park at the finish and be transported to the start location.
Registration includes options to customize your experience: choose a medal or opt out of it to reduce costs. If you decide on a medal, make sure to select this during registration as additional medals will not be available on race day unless there are extras left over.
Runners must bring their own cups for hydration due to the event's cupless policy, though collapsible speedcups can be purchased at registration or on-site.
The marathon starts promptly at 08:30 AM with a briefing from organizers beginning at 08:20 AM. Early birds will need to arrive by 07:45 AM for check-in and preparation. The half marathon follows, kicking off at 10:30 AM after an initial meeting time of 10:20 AM.
Parking is available both at the start location near Great Yeldham and at the finish line in Colchester’s Cymbeline Meadows. Toilets are also accessible at these locations for convenience before or during your run.
Cut-off times ensure a smooth flow of runners, with marathon participants having 7.5 hours to complete their distance while half marathoners have four hours from start to finish. This event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and adheres strictly to UK Athletics rules, ensuring a safe and well-organized race day for all.
