Cleveland Survival 2027

The Survival, now in its 42nd year, is an adventurous orienteering challenge set against the rugged backdrop of the North York Moors. Participants will navigate through approximately 24 miles of varied terrain, from rolling hills to steep valleys, as they follow a detailed route card leading them to checkpoints manned by dedicated Search and Rescue volunteers.
This isn't just a race; it's an expedition that tests your navigation skills and resilience in challenging weather conditions typical for early spring. Along the way, runners can expect hydration stations with drinks provided, while everyone is treated to a hot meal at the finish line—a welcome reward after completing this demanding course solo or as part of a team.
Participants are advised to bring essential gear such as maps, compasses, emergency food supplies, survival bags, whistles, and waterproof clothing. Each checkpoint offers opportunities for rest and replenishment before tackling the next leg of the journey.
A significant highlight is knowing that every step contributes directly to funding Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team's vital work in keeping local communities safe. This event has become a cherished tradition within the community, celebrated not just by runners but also those who support this important cause through their participation.
