Winter Trail Runs at Dalby Forest – Sunday, November 29th, 2026
Dalby Forest is set to host its Winter Trail Runs on the southern slopes of the North York Moors. This renowned venue offers a perfect blend of stunning forest trails and breathtaking views for runners tackling distances ranging from the Marathon (42.2km) to the Half Marathon (21.1km), and the 10km race.
The event takes place in Adderstone Field, located just beyond Dalby Forest's visitors center within this expansive woodland area covering over 8,500 acres of pristine forest trails ideal for running, walking, and cycling. Participants will enjoy a mix of fire roads that wind through the dense woods, providing panoramic vistas of the North York Moors.
The Marathon course consists of two loops around the Half Marathon route, with runners aiming to complete it within approximately 6 hours at an average pace of about 14 minutes per mile. The Half Marathon features a single loop through varied terrain and scenic trails, while the shorter 10km race is designed for those looking to challenge themselves in winter conditions.
Start times are scheduled simultaneously at 9:30 AM across all three distances, ensuring runners can immerse themselves fully from the moment they set off. The event also welcomes a Canicross-friendly environment where one well-controlled dog per runner may join on a leash throughout the course.
Race timing is provided by Timing Up North with live chip-timing technology to ensure instant and accurate results for all participants. Upon crossing the finish line, runners will be rewarded not only with bespoke medals but also with Wild Deer merchandise and complimentary snacks and drinks.
Subsidized parking at £4 per vehicle can be paid post-event via Forestry England pay machines located on-site. This event promises an unforgettable running experience amidst the serene beauty of Dalby Forest during winter.
