Immerse yourself in the nocturnal wilderness at Running in the Dark, an exhilarating trail run that transforms night into adventure. The official start time is 6:57 PM, just one minute before sunset, giving you ample light to get comfortable with your surroundings and gear up for a unique experience. The course winds through approximately five miles of varied terrain, looping around grassy fields, gravel paths, and dirt trails. With single-track sections making up about 30% of the route, runners can expect both technical challenges and wider stretches that offer a break from tight turns. Each lap is designed to be completed in one hour or less. Support for participants comes primarily through an aid station located at the start/finish line where water and snacks are provided. Runners are encouraged to bring additional items tailored to their needs, as there will also be space available for drop bags near the finish area. A special treat awaits you after crossing the finish line with a post-race snack. Registration fees vary based on timing: $35 per individual runner regardless of distance chosen or an extra $5 if registering at the event itself. Relay teams consisting of three members can sign up for either $105 or $120, depending on whether they register beforehand or on race day. All participants receive a commemorative t-shirt. Awards are given to top male and female finishers in each distance category as well as the fastest relay team overall. The event offers flexibility with adjustments allowed at check-in for those wishing to change their loop count up until that point. Please note, once registered, fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another participant or future years' events. Join us under the stars for an unforgettable night of running where every step reveals something new.
