Alderton 5k Run

The Alderton 5k returns for its 16th year as an inviting race through the picturesque village of Alderton in Gloucestershire, offering runners of all levels—from beginners to seasoned athletes—the chance to enjoy a fast and friendly course while supporting Alderton Acorns Pre-School and Toddlers.
This event features a flat and speedy route that winds along Beckford Road, passing through Great Washbourne before looping back into Alderton. The out-and-back layout is ideal for first-time 5k runners seeking a quick time or anyone looking to enjoy the scenic countryside at a comfortable pace. Finish times typically range from around 16 minutes to approximately 45 minutes.
Race day begins early with Race HQ opening at 9:00 am, providing ample time for participants to collect their race numbers and warm up before the start line briefing at 10:45 am. The race itself kicks off promptly at 11:00 am from a point just outside the Gardeners Arms.
The Alderton Playing Field serves as both Race HQ and the location of all-day refreshments, featuring teas, coffees, drinks, and cakes available for runners and spectators alike. Toilets are conveniently located near Race HQ and additional portable facilities will be on-site throughout the day.
All participants can look forward to a welcoming atmosphere with free finish-line photos and medals provided for junior racers. The event is inclusive of U16s, pushchairs, dogs, and escorted runners, making it a perfect family outing. Parents are reminded that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult during the race.
Post-race activities include prize presentations once all participants have finished, usually around 50 minutes after the start time. Free finish-line photos will also be available for download on the event website following the race. Participants and supporters can stay connected with updates through the Alderton 5k’s online platforms: www.alderton5k.co.uk, Facebook (@alderton5krun), and Instagram (@alderton5krun).
