Set against the rugged coastline and rolling hills of Cornwall, the St Agnes Beacon Race is a highlight of the Cornish Grand Prix Running Series. Scheduled for June 23, 2027, this scenic 5-mile race starts and finishes in the heart of St Agnes village centre, offering runners a unique blend of coastal charm and inland beauty.
The route takes participants on an exhilarating journey around St Agnes Beacon, providing panoramic views over the sea before descending to the dramatic cliffs at St Agnes Head. The course then loops back through Beacon Drive, winding its way past picturesque cottages and fields dotted with wildflowers. Runners will experience a mix of flat terrain and gentle inclines as they navigate this historic route.
Registration for the event opens on January 31, 2027, at noon, with pre-entries required to collect their race numbers from St Agnes Sports Club between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm on race day. Participants must note that it's a 1200-meter walk from the car park/race HQ to the start line, so plan accordingly.
The race itself is chip-timed, but all placings are awarded using gun-to-chip times for fairness among competitors. Race numbers should be worn properly and returned at the end of the event. No MP3 players or personal audio devices are allowed during the run due to safety concerns, ensuring that runners can hear instructions from marshals along the route.
Toilets and refreshments will be available at the race HQ as well as local businesses such as the St Agnes Hotel and Railway Inn. Additional public toilets are located near Sorting House coffee shop for those closer to the start line.
