7th Annual Mickelson Trail Summer Trek

The Summer Trail Trek invites cyclists on an epic three-day journey through the scenic Black Hills along the George S. Mickelson Trail. Spanning 109 miles, this ride offers unparalleled access to natural beauty and historical charm as it follows a former railroad bed now resurfaced with crushed limestone. Riders will navigate four hard-rock tunnels and cross over one hundred trestle bridges, each offering unique vistas of lush forests and rugged landscapes. The trail's manageable grade keeps most sections within reach for cyclists of various abilities, though the stretch from Rochford to Dumont presents a challenging 10-mile climb that tests endurance. This event promises an immersive experience in South Dakota’s stunning outdoors.
