About the Event

The 37th edition of the SPAR Omagh Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk returns on April 4, 2027, after a successful virtual race during the pandemic. This year's event promises to be one of the highlights in Northern Ireland’s running calendar, with nearly five decades of tradition behind it. Since its inception as an informal 10-mile run in 1981 and subsequent evolution into today’s half marathon distance, Omagh Harriers have meticulously organized this race since March 2000.
The event has seen a remarkable surge in participation over the years, with nearly 5,000 runners expected to take part. Participants can look forward to chip timing, pacers for various finish times, and vibrant street entertainment along the route. The half marathon offers a fast course that winds through scenic Omagh town while providing stunning views of rolling hills and lush greenery.
Race day features an impressive prize fund worth over £6000, including special bonuses for those who break the male (64:46) or female (74:08) half marathon records. All finishers receive a quality top and newly designed medals to commemorate their achievement, with 5K runners also receiving exclusive recognition.
Registration for this highly anticipated event opens on October 9, 2026, promising an early sell-out due to its popularity in recent years. Don't miss your chance to join the thousands of enthusiastic runners as they celebrate a day filled with camaraderie and athletic excellence at Omagh Leisure Complex.
