Granite Peaks Ultras 2027

Nestled along the rugged Irish coastline, the Granite Peaks Ultras is set for its third edition on April 16, 2027. This ultra-endurance race takes runners through some of Ireland’s most dramatic landscapes, including the iconic Mourne Mountains—a granite range that inspired C.S. Lewis's enchanting Narnia tales.
The event offers three challenging courses: a grueling 100K with an impressive 6,500 meters of ascent, a more moderate but still formidable 50K course featuring 4,000 meters of climbing, and a shorter yet steeply ascended 25K route with 1,800 meters. Each race winds through the mountains’ wild moorland, hidden valleys, and over jagged summit tors, offering breathtaking views at every turn.
Runners will navigate open mountain terrain that often veers away from marked paths, requiring careful preparation for misty conditions common in this area. The courses are partially marked, but all participants must carry a GPS-enabled device with the race route loaded to ensure they stay on track and meet mandatory kit requirements such as waterproof gear, headlamps (for longer races), emergency supplies, and collapsible cups.
The Granite Peaks Ultras is not just about pushing physical limits; it’s also an inclusive event welcoming all genders. With a zero-tolerance policy for discriminatory behavior, the race aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for everyone who enters its challenging courses.
