2027 Hit The Trail 5 Mile

Join us on Sunday, January 3rd, 2027, for Belle Vue Racers' annual Hit the Trail Race at Reddish Vale Country Park. This trail race is an invigorating five-mile journey through some of Greater Manchester's most scenic countryside, winding along Tiviot Way and around the beautiful River Mersey.
The course begins near Portwood Roundabout on M60 Stockport, just opposite Tesco Extra, where runners will gather for a 11:00 am start. The route is an undulating trail that challenges even experienced athletes while offering newer runners a rewarding experience with proper training. Participants should expect varying terrain and conditions typical of winter months in the UK; it's crucial to wear footwear with excellent stability and grip, as spikes are not suitable for this course.
The race day atmosphere promises warmth and camaraderie from Belle Vue Racers (BVR) members who will cheer on every runner regardless of their pace. The route is slightly longer than a traditional five-mile run at just over 5 miles due to its winding nature through Reddish Vale Country Park, with sections that can be muddy or uneven.
After crossing the finish line at Tiviot Way bridge near Portwood Roundabout, runners will head back towards the registration area for post-race refreshments and prize presentations. All finishers receive a complimentary bottle of beer as part of their celebration.
Participants are encouraged to collect race numbers from Reddish Working Mens Club on Greg Street in Stockport before race day; this venue is roughly three-quarters of a mile away from the start line, allowing runners ample time for last-minute preparations or warm-up runs.
Prizes will be awarded equally among male and female categories as well as veteran classes and team divisions. These awards must be claimed at Reddish Working Mens Club after completing the race.
