On November 29, 2026, the second edition of the Newping Ailao Mountain Trail Race will take place in Jiasa Town, Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province. The event offers two race categories: a challenging 35KM route with an elevation gain of 2998 meters and a scenic 22KM experience course that ascends 2213 meters. Both routes start at the Phoenix Square in Jiasa Town and showcase the stunning landscapes around Ailao Mountain, known for its ancient tea-horse trading paths and lush forests.
The 35KM challenge route winds through dense woods, over rugged peaks reaching up to 2639 meters above sea level, culminating at the pristine Jinshan Primitive Forest. Runners will navigate steep ascents and descents while enjoying breathtaking views of mist-shrouded valleys and cascading waterfalls along the way.
The 22KM experience course follows a similar path but features fewer elevation changes, ending near the scenic Stone Gate Gorge. Both races start at 7:00 AM on November 29th with finish lines welcoming runners by early afternoon.
Participants will immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of the local Dai people and enjoy the crisp autumn air as they traverse this mountainous terrain.
