About the Event

The Gary Mintz Memorial 5K Run/Walk returns on May 2, 2027, at 9AM in Brentwood, NY, honoring the legacy of one of Brentwood High School's beloved former principals. This annual event was initiated to commemorate Gary Mintz and his vision for supporting scholarship funds for BHS seniors.
Participants will gather along a scenic route that winds through the heart of Brentwood, providing runners and walkers with an engaging experience amidst local landmarks and parks. The race is open to all skill levels, from seasoned athletes to casual enthusiasts looking to contribute to a meaningful cause.
The first 200 registrants are guaranteed commemorative shirts as part of their entry package. This year marks the 30th anniversary since Mr. O'Brien brought Gary Mintz's idea to life in honor of his predecessor and friend. The event continues its tradition of raising funds for Brentwood High School’s scholarship fund, ensuring that future generations will benefit from this enduring community initiative.
Join runners and supporters as they celebrate the spirit of giving back and remember a leader who left an indelible mark on the school and its students.
