1ος ΔΡΟΜΟΣ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑΣ 440 χλμ - ΜΕΣΟΛΟΓΓΙ-ΝΑΥΠΛΙΟ

From May 20 to May 24, 2027, the inaugural Freedom Run from Messolonghi to Nafplio invites athletes to conquer an epic multi-day ultra marathon spanning 440 kilometers. This historic route follows in the footsteps of those who bravely marched towards freedom two centuries ago.
To commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of the heroic Exodus of Missolonghi on April 10, 1826, participants will traverse a course that retraces the journey taken by fighters seeking liberation from Ottoman rule. With a strict cutoff time of 99 hours and 55 aid stations along the way, this event stands as one of Europe's most challenging endurance tests.
The race begins at Messolonghi’s Old Railway Station on May 20th at 7:00 AM, marking the start of an arduous journey that includes a unique maritime transfer lasting for one hour. The route winds through some of Greece's most picturesque landscapes and historical sites before reaching its conclusion in Nafplio's Syntagma Square on May 24th at 10:00 AM.
This event is not just about the distance; it’s an ode to history, perseverance, and legacy for those who seek more than a physical challenge. Organized under the auspices of Western Greece, Central Greece, and Peloponnese regions, this run offers runners an unparalleled opportunity to experience both the beauty and significance of the Greek land.
Participants will face rigorous terrain changes from coastal plains to rugged mountains, testing their endurance in every way possible as they honor a pivotal moment in Greece’s history. The Freedom Run is more than just a race; it's a journey through time that celebrates courage and freedom.
This event promises an unforgettable experience for those who are ready to push beyond the ordinary limits of physical prowess into the realm where history, endurance, and personal challenge converge.
