Welser Sparkasse OÖ Silvesterlauf 2026

Get ready for the Welser Sparkasse Silvesterlauf, one of Austria's most beloved New Year’s Eve events. On December 31st, runners and Nordic walkers alike will gather to celebrate the end of the year with a festive run through Wels' picturesque city center.
The main event features a fast-paced 5-kilometer course that participants complete in three loops around Welser Innenstadt, passing iconic landmarks such as the Ledererturm each time. The race starts at the bustling Stadtplatz and finishes on Minoritenplatz where runners will be greeted by cheering crowds and festive atmosphere.
In addition to the main 5-kilometer run, there’s a shorter Nordic Walking route of approximately 3.4 kilometers for those who prefer walking or mixed terrain activities. Both events are designed to cater to all ages with dedicated youth races starting around mid-afternoon as well.
Registration is now open and early sign-ups guarantee access at the best prices. On race day, participants can pick up their bib numbers from Minoriten Wels beginning at 11:00 AM. The various age group events for children will kick off just before 2 PM, followed by the main races starting around 2 PM to 2:45 PM.
As you cross the finish line, look forward to a well-deserved celebration with complimentary drinks and snacks including champagne, cake, and refreshments provided in the finishing area. Every participant receives an official medal as a memento of their achievement on this special day. Additionally, runners will be given goodie bags filled with surprises upon crossing the line.
