Nestled in the heart of Ibaraki Prefecture, the Stoneo Half Marathon offers runners an immersive experience through the charming town of Ishioka. Starting at Ishioka Station, participants can walk from the station to the race start, making it incredibly convenient for visitors.
The course winds through the historic and nostalgic streets surrounding the station, where vintage signage and retro architecture transport runners back in time. As they progress along the route, competitors face a challenging climb up Onigohara Pass, known locally as "the Demon's Slope," before descending into picturesque landscapes that showcase the beauty of Japan’s countryside.
The highlight of this half marathon is its finish line at the foot of Tsukuba Mountain—one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Entry fees are set at ¥6000 for the half marathon, ¥3000 (¥1000 for middle school students) for the 3km race, and ¥1000 for the shorter family event priced at ¥2000.
