Experience the grandeur and charm of Ragusa's UNESCO Baroque heritage at the Mangia's Ragusa Marathon. This unique race begins with a scenic 5 km loop around the outskirts of Ragusa Ovest, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through the heart of Sicily.
As you venture out into the countryside, the next 32 kilometers wind through picturesque villages and rural hamlets scattered across the Plateau. One particularly memorable stretch takes runners along dry stone walls in Tre Casuzze, a testament to traditional craftsmanship that dots the landscape with rustic beauty.
The route presents several dirt sections totaling between 50 and 300 meters early on, offering glimpses of untouched natural terrain before merging into more developed areas around kilometer 24. Here, you'll skirt Ragusa's western outskirts via Viale delle Americhe, a large roundabout that marks the transition to residential neighborhoods like Monachella and Cisternazzi.
The course then leads runners through industrial zones characterized by oil wells and two notable tunnels near ABCD before descending gradually over the next 8 kilometers.
