Shanghai Marathon, one of Asia's most prestigious and dynamic races, invites runners to explore the ultramodern megacity where futuristic skyscrapers meet ancient architecture. With limited spots available and an acceptance rate between 6-7.2%, securing a place through the lottery is highly competitive among over 380,000 applicants.
The course, nearly flat with no steep inclines, stretches across 42 kilometers of certified track ideal for personal bests (PB). Runners start on the historic Chen Yi Square along the Bund and navigate iconic business districts before following the Huangpu River. The race concludes at Shanghai Stadium, offering a unique blend of historical landmarks and cutting-edge urban development.
While the Mini Run covers 5 km on December 5th, 2026 (Saturday), the main event—the Full Marathon—takes place on December 6th, 2026 (Sunday). This race stands alongside Tokyo and London as one of the world’s most exclusive marathons.
