On May 15, 2027, cyclists from around the world will gather in Balaguer, located just 30 kilometers west of Lleida, for an exhilarating day of cycling. The Gran Fondo MM190 (GF MM190) offers a challenging route that spans 190 kilometers with approximately 3,300 meters of elevation gain, making it a true test of endurance and skill.
The race begins at the Polideportivo Inpacsa in Balaguer and takes cyclists through picturesque Catalan villages. The course features several notable climbs including Vilanova de la Sal, Port d’Àger, Coll de Comiols, and Alt de Fontllonga. Each climb offers stunning views of rolling hills and lush landscapes that highlight the natural beauty of Catalonia.
The GF MM190 is part of the Circuit Catalán de Cicloturismo-Gran Fondo organized by FCC. Cyclists must follow a mandatory detour at kilometer 108.4, leading them to the shorter Medio Fondo MM140 route if they wish to continue in that category.
For those seeking an intermediate challenge, the Medio Fondo MM140 (MF MM140) covers 140 kilometers with around 2,050 meters of elevation gain. This route also includes spectacular climbs and scenic views but offers a more manageable distance for riders looking to experience the beauty without the full rigors of the Gran Fondo.
Both events are open only to participants aged 18 or older on race day. The atmosphere along the course is energized, with enthusiastic supporters cheering cyclists at every turn. The Challenge MM80 (CH MM80), another option for those aged 16 or older on race day, covers 80 kilometers with approximately 1,300 meters of elevation gain. This route includes the same challenging climbs as its longer counterparts but offers a more manageable distance that still captures the essence and beauty of Catalan cycling culture.
