On April 1, 2021, runners will have the unique opportunity to explore the newly revitalized Wye Valley Greenway for the first time. This historic railway path has been transformed into a shared-use trail, perfect for cyclists, walkers, and runners alike. The project was spearheaded by the charitable organization Greenways and Cycleroutes, which worked tirelessly to refurbish the 1.1-kilometer-long Tidenham Tunnel and resurface much of the route with compact stone paths and tarmac. The race begins at Wyedean School and follows a scenic path along the Wye Valley towards Tintern. The first three kilometers lead runners straight into the heart of the Tidenham Tunnel, where they will experience its refurbished interior before emerging to continue their journey through breathtaking landscapes. As participants make their way further down the trail, stunning views of the surrounding valley unfold, offering a picturesque backdrop for this inaugural event. The route continues along both sides of the Wye Valley until runners reach their turnaround points and begin retracing their steps back towards Wyedean School and the finish line at the station.
