Winter on the Downs offers runners an exhilarating challenge across three distinct distances: 50 kilometers, 55 miles, and 100 miles. All races take place along the scenic trails of East and West Sussex, starting and finishing at Plumpton Racecourse. The event’s timing in winter brings a unique mix of conditions to the race day experience. Runners may encounter everything from bright, crisp days with clear blue skies to more challenging weather such as strong winds, rain, sleet, fog, freezing temperatures, and even snow. The eastern side of the South Downs, where much of this route lies, is known for its relatively dry climate compared to other parts of the United Kingdom.
