VNSHS Run for the Health of It 5K Run/Walk 2027

On Saturday, May 8, 2027, the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk invites runners to participate in the 27th Annual Run for the Health of It. This year's race is part of the USATF-Long Island Grand Prix series and promises a day filled with community spirit and athletic competition.
The event kicks off at 8 AM with check-in, followed by an exciting Kids Fun Run starting at 8:30 AM. The main run begins promptly at 9 AM for both in-person participants and those joining virtually during National Nurses Week (May 6-12). Regardless of the weather conditions, runners are encouraged to lace up their shoes and join this rain-or-shine event.
The race route offers a scenic course through Suffolk County's picturesque landscapes. Participants can expect an enjoyable run with varied terrain that includes sections of paved paths and grassy trails, providing both challenge and beauty along the way. The top three overall male and female finishers will receive cash prizes, as well as first-place awards for Masters runners (40+), a Nurse category winner, and the largest team.
One of the highlights is the virtual 5K option, allowing participants to run or walk during National Nurses Week at their convenience. This flexibility ensures that everyone can contribute to this meaningful cause while adhering to personal schedules and preferences.
The first 500 runners who cross the finish line will receive a commemorative race tee shirt as a token of appreciation for their support. Additionally, all participants in the Kids Fun Run are guaranteed a medal along with a special plant designed to be gifted to a mother figure in celebration of Mother’s Day.
Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk is an independent not-for-profit healthcare agency dedicated to providing comprehensive services such as home health care, hospice support, rehabilitative therapy, and more. The race aims to raise funds for these essential programs while honoring the dedication of local nurses who provide compassionate care year-round.
