ULTRAMEDITERRÀNIA Unión Alcoyana Seguros 2027: A Winter Trail Running Extravaganza in the Mountains of Alicante From January 21 to 24, 2027, ULTRAMEDITERRÀNIA will return for its fifth edition, transforming the rugged and beautiful mountains inland from Alicante into a trail-running paradise. The centerpiece is the PRO 160K race, an arduous journey spanning over 100 miles with more than 8,000 meters of elevation gain. This course weaves through some of the most iconic peaks in the region via technical trails, steep ascents, exposed ridges and stunning Mediterranean vistas. For those looking for a variety of challenges, ULTRAMEDITERRÀNIA offers several other races to cater to different levels of experience: ONE 86K, MAX 50K, STG 89K (a three-stage race), EXP 25K, CXM 14K and the new VRT 6K vertical challenge. Additionally, there are KIDS races for young runners as well as VOLRACE to honor the volunteers who make ULTRAMEDITERRÀNIA possible. All events take place under semi-self-sufficiency conditions with solid aid stations along the way providing necessary support. The extensive network of marked trails covers over 220 kilometers, leading participants through pristine valleys, dense forests, historic villages and mountain peaks reaching up to approximately 1,400 meters above sea level. ULTRAMEDITERRÀNIA is certified by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) and includes UTMB Index races. The PRO 160K race also offers direct entry places for the prestigious TOR330 – Tor des Géants® through its participation in the TORX® eXperience network. This event promises an unforgettable winter adventure, offering runners a chance to explore one of Spain’s most authentic mountain regions and experience the unique trail-running culture that ULTRAMEDITERRÀNIA is known for.
