L’Ultr’Arverne: The Ultimate Ultra-Cycling Experience in Auvergne
Dive into the heart of the Livradois-Forez Regional Natural Park and the volcanic landscapes of Auvergne with L’Ultr’Arverne, an epic ultra-cycling event departing from Ambert. This extraordinary challenge is designed for endurance cyclists and bikepackers seeking a raw human adventure across rugged mountain roads.
Participants ride day and night in complete autonomy over three grueling formats: 400 km (8,000 m D+), 600 km (11,000 m D+), or the legendary 1,000 km course with its staggering 18,000 m of elevation gain. Each route offers a deep immersion into the iconic Auvergne cols and the wild beauty of this natural region.
With live GPS tracking, riders manage their own efforts, bike mechanics, and sleep patterns as they navigate through some of France’s most demanding terrain. L’Ultr’Arverne is not about competition but pure endurance, making it a unique test for cyclists looking to push their limits in one of the world's most scenic cycling destinations.
