The Limitless Trails BYU Series returns this season with an exhilarating twist: a strict time cut-off and a thrilling sprint finish for the final yard. This unique race unfolds just outside Crickhowell amidst the serene beauty of the Black Mountains, offering runners both challenging terrain and picturesque views.
Set against a backdrop of rolling hills and lush landscapes, participants will navigate through 50% trail and tarmac routes. The course features one gradual climb and a short steep section but remains mostly flat throughout, ensuring that runners can maintain their pace without undue fatigue. With the race capped at 12 hours, competitors must complete each of the first eleven yards within an hour to be eligible for the final sprint.
The event begins promptly at 9am on Saturday morning from a designated starting corral where all participants will gather before the bell signals the start. Runners are given precise instructions and three-minute warnings prior to the beginning of each loop, ensuring everyone is prepared as they transition between yards. Common aid stations along the route provide essential hydration and nutrition, with hot food available after completing the fifth yard.
Medals await every finisher who completes any single yard in this series, while those who push beyond their limits by reaching 32 miles will earn a special ultra medal to commemorate their achievement. A dedicated team of medics is on-site throughout the event along with ample facilities for showers and toilets, ensuring runners can focus solely on pushing themselves.
Supporters are welcome but must adhere strictly to guidelines that include no phone calls during race time except in emergencies and no access to the starting corral or course itself while competitors are active. A pop-up kitchen area is provided for supporters' assistance with preparation tasks under staff supervision.
