Trail de l'Hippodrome

On April 18, 2027, the Hippodrome of La Boixe in Montignac-Charente will host the inaugural Trail de l’Hippodrome. This unique event blends sport and nature with a distinctive equestrian flair. The CACE (Committee for Cultural and Equestrian Events) and the Association des Courses Hippiques have meticulously planned this trail race to cater to all levels of runners, from seasoned athletes to families seeking an engaging day out.
The main adult races include three distinct distances:
- Le Prix de La Boixe at 19 km with a challenging elevation gain of 240 meters.
- La Foulée des Jockeys, a more moderate 13.5 km course featuring 200 meters of ascent, ideal for those looking to enjoy the scenery while pushing their limits.
- The most accessible option is L’Échappée des Pur-Sang at 9 km with an elevation gain of 160 meters.
In addition to these adult races, there are two children's courses: a 1.7-kilometer run for kids aged 12 to 15 and an 800-meter race for those between 8 and 11 years old. Both the main trail runs and the youth events offer scenic routes through lush landscapes surrounding the hippodrome, providing participants with breathtaking views of the Charente countryside.
The event kicks off early in the morning at 8:45 AM with the start of Le Prix de La Boixe, followed by subsequent race starts throughout the day. The atmosphere is lively and supportive, featuring on-site entertainment, a dining area, and refreshments to keep everyone fueled and happy.
