THP Winter

Prepare your gear, dust off those poles, and lace up your running shoes because it’s time to tackle the winter edition of Trail des Hautes-Préalpes (THP) on November 21, 2026. Nestled in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department at Lure mountain, this event offers a range of challenging distances designed for both seasoned runners and those seeking an invigorating challenge.
The W100 distance is the ultimate test with its grueling 102 kilometers and 5,300 meters of elevation gain. This course not only rewards you with spectacular views over Provence but also offers 4 points in ITRA and qualifies as a 100K UTMB event. For those aiming for something equally ambitious yet slightly less daunting, the W70 (70 kilometers) and its relay counterpart offer 3,700 meters of elevation gain and earn you 3 points ITRA along with 100K UTMB status.
The THP Winter also caters to a variety of runners with shorter distances. The W45 at 45.5 kilometers includes over 2,200 meters of ascent for those looking to achieve the 50K UTMB and earn 2 points ITRA. Meanwhile, the W30 (32 kilometers) provides an elevation gain of 1,509 meters and qualifies as a 20K UTMB event. The shortest offering is the W15 at just over 14 kilometers with 600 meters of ascent.
The THP Winter doesn’t forget about young athletes either. A special junior category for runners aged 10 to 15 years old offers them an opportunity to experience trail running on a course that includes 3,900 meters and 1,400 meters respectively.

All races begin at the Station of Lure, a historic ski resort dating back to 1937. From there, runners face an immediate climb with all courses eventually traversing the iconic Lure ridge for its panoramic views and technical terrain. The W100, W70 (both solo and relay), W45, and W30 routes culminate at Cairn 2000, a local landmark built to celebrate the turn of the millennium.
The final push towards the finish line is particularly challenging as runners must navigate steep ascents before crossing the finish line.
