Love the run, or run for love this Valentine's Day at our special Valentines Run. Whether you're celebrating with your partner, best friend, or simply enjoying some solo time on the pavement, this heartwarming race offers something unique and memorable. Event Details: Join us on Sunday, February 14th, 2027, starting promptly at 9:30 AM from Durham Amateur Rowing Club. This event is designed for all abilities—from runners to walkers—and features a flexible distance format that lets you decide how far you want to go. Membership Benefits: Members get an exclusive £10 discount on entry fees and are guaranteed spots in our events, plus they receive mini-medal pins at each race attended. Plus, UK Athletics club members enjoy a further reduction of £2 per entry. Course Description: The route winds along the picturesque River Wear with stunning views of Durham Cathedral. This trail run is fully marked to ensure easy navigation for runners and walkers alike. The minimum distance you can cover is 3km, while full laps are either 4.37 miles (about 7km) or a shorter loop based on course conditions. For those aiming higher, running three loops equals half marathon length, six loops hit the marathon mark, seven or more for an ultra-distance run, and there's also a 50km option. Awards & Memorabilia: All finishers who complete at least 3 kilometers will receive our themed Valentine’s medal. For those logging significant mileage—half-marathon distance or beyond—you’ll earn special pins to commemorate your achievement. Post-Race Treats: Treat yourself with a well-deserved goody bag filled with treats, including vegan options upon request during registration. A variety of snacks and drinks will also be available at the aid stations throughout the event. Special Milestones Recognition: If this race marks one of your personal milestones (e.g., 50th marathon or half-marathon), please inform us ahead of time to receive a personalized number celebrating your achievement. Venue & Logistics: The Durham Amateur Rowing Club provides toilets and changing facilities. A bag drop area is available near the start/finish line, though it's unstaffed and items are left at participants' own risk. Free parking can be found in city center locations or nearby streets; however, avoid using spaces reserved for club members. Race Day Instructions: Comprehensive race day instructions will arrive via email a week before the event date. On-site registration opens early to allow for number pick-ups prior to starting times. Join us at Durham Amateur Rowing Club this Valentine’s Day and experience an inclusive running community where everyone is welcome, no matter their pace or distance goals. Enjoy your run!
